Dress Love

Ever since my lovely friend Amy took me to Anthropologie in downtown Seattle a few months ago, I've been in love.
I'm still in shock that a fashionista like me had never been in such a lovely store before.
Their dresses are gorgeous and I can't stop myself from viewing their website and dreaming about them.

The Lovely and Talented Jesse Krull

I'm quickly falling in love with studio work.
This past Friday we played around with all sorts of contemporary lighting techniques.
My fellow student and friend, Jesse Krull, quickly became obsessed with octaboxes.
We both used them for our contemporary lighting assaignment.
These are all the shots she took of me and I'll try to post my own photos for the assignment soon.

Country Jam!

Neglecting this blog was not what I have been intending to do, but life has been so crazy lately.

This is my life lately:
Wake up.
Class for 4 hours.
Eat Lunch.
Class for another 4 hours.
Take photos.
Edit photos.
Sleep.
And repeat.
However!
I finally had a Saturday freee of classes and spent it with my boyfriend at the local annual Country Jam.
It was amazing!
We saw Eric Church and camped on the grounds with several friends.
Nothing could've been better for the much needed break :)

Minimal Progress

I've been dying to upload some of the photos I've recently taken and here they are!
Some are from assaignments and some are just for fun.
Some show that I'm understanding what I'm learning in class...
the others just show that I still have a long way to go.
BUT
I am proud of what progress I am making- even if it is minimal.

Shoe Love

Beautiful, no?
They've been gracing my feet all day.
Thank you Target, for again finding a way to get my spend money I shouldn't on your beautiful shoes.
This beautiful shade (Hot & Spicy) of polish from O.P.I. has also been gracing my feet on my pedicure.

Rainy Day

{photo by Knitstorm}
I am slightly convinced that on a rainy day like today, there is no cozier thing than a mug of hot tea.

Finding Inspiration

What you see above are images from magazines compiled on my bedroom floor.
Some are from Vogue, some from ELLE or Lucky.
The Assignment: Pick twenty photographs from magazines that you have an instant reaction to and rip them out.
(I refuse to rip up magazines, so I actually photocopied all of mine)
Assignment Number Two: Look through all the images collected and pick the one you find most inspiring and write a paragraph on why it makes you want to be a photographer.
While I could have easily written about every one of the picture I chose. This photo of Gisele Bundchen, taken by Patrick Demarchelier for the April 2010 issue of Vogue, is the one I wrote about:

This photo of Gisele Bundchen makes me want to capture every breathtaking moment around me. I couldn’t pinpoint one specific thing that draws me to it. It could be the beautiful color. Perhaps, that I instantly identify with doing yoga with my own dog nearby. It’s possible it is the simple fact that it came from Vogue and there’s nothing I love more than a good fashion magazine. All I can tell you is, when I flipped the page and saw this photo I said out loud, to nobody but my sleeping pooch, “I love this picture!” It is the kind of photograph I dream of taking. There is such a stillness, a quiet energy to the shot. I instantly want to feel what Gisele appears to be feeling when I look at it. That’s what I want to do- I want to make people feel. I want to take photographs that can make a person cry, make them want, make them deliriously happy, inspire them.
I love fashion photography, because it combines two art forms that I love. Sometimes I can’t decided what I want to focus on more, the beauty of the clothes or the beauty of the photograph. What I do know is, I want to be a apart of that magic that goes into a photograph like this. Whether working on a fashion shoot or simply working on a portrait or wedding, I hope someone connects to my work. I hope they see the magic. I hope they feel it.
