Photo Love

Yesterday, I stumbled upon Laurn Randolph's lovely photography.
Her work is amazing.
You should really check out more of it here.

Somebody's Hero

This was part of my Christmas present to my momma.

And yes, it made us both cry.

Tummy Full of Cookies

Yesterday, I made some of the best cookies ever.

Chocolate chip cookies are my absolute favorite dessert! However, since becoming vegan over a year ago, I had yet to make myself a vegan batch. I bought this wonderful book and have made several yummy things out of it, but had yet to make cookies from it.

If you're like me, cookies are a big part of the holidays for you. So tonight I whipped up a back of chocolate chip cookies! And let me tell you, the are delicious! So soft and chewy and mm mm good!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas Eve!

Can You Believe It?!

When did it get this close to Christmas?!

It snuck up on me. Even though the ground is a sparkly white, I have a stack of wrapped packages, a soynog cheesecake in my fridge (which was made with Ener-G instead of eggs), a decorated Christmas tree, and Bing Crosby Christmas music on, it still feels like weeks away!

But no, it's in three days!

I need a boost to get into the Christmas spirit!
Any ideas?

Dear Future Husband,

You should probably know that I really like being cozy in the winter. I burry myself in blankets on the couch with hot tea in hand all the time.

Also, I watch a lot more tv than is probably healthy.

I give mini concerts in the car, because I can't help singing along to the radio.

I only subscribe to two magazines, but I read about ten every month. Which means, I spend way too much money on cover prices.

But the most important thing you should know is no matter who you are or where you are right now, I love you already.

Baby Fever

Baby fever is not something I have in any way shape or form. However, three of my friends have now married and all got pregnant with lovely little girls! While I'm not interested in having children anytime soon, I do enjoy living a little vicariously through them.
This weekend I got to celebrate a baby shower for one of my oldest friends (we go back to pre-k t-ball days!).
Enjoy the tiny bit of vicarious baby fever with me :)

Today

Today, I will keyword all my photographs.
(Which I've been needing to do since June.)

Today, I will bake holiday goodies for my friends.

Today, I will finish watching "Adam".
(Which I've had from Netflix for four months.
Thank goodness for no late fees!)

Today, I will finish editing my photos from my little brother's birthday, Thanksgiving, decorating the Christmas tree, and other fun events.

Today, I will attempt to part with old magazines and put them in the recycling.
(Which is nearly impossible for me, because I will hoard fashion magazines like crazy.)

Today, I will catch up on all the blogs I'm falling behind on reading.

Today, I will buy a lovely little gift for my equally lovely friend's upcoming baby shower.

Sharpie and Studio Lights

A few months ago I had the greatest opportunity to model for Raechel Hawkinson, who also happens to be my best friend of nearly 17 years.
She had this idea of taking words often used to describe strong women and placing them on a woman in interesting ways. This is her beautiful result.

Our Song is the Slam of Screen Doors

wearing
your clothes

all that i know is i don’t know

how to be something you miss

i never thought we’d have a last kiss

Oh Taylor,

what did I do before you wrote such beautiful lyrics?

What I Love About Sundays

"Touchdown" was my second word as a baby.
My whole family is crazy about football.
And every Sunday you can find me on the couch, cheering on the New York Giants.
Saturdays, I proudly wear maroon and silver in support of the Montana Grizzlies.
I cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs.
And I love, love, love the boys of fall...

You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile :)

A few things making me smile today:

These shirts above from Out of Print, via Pennyweight.
AND the thing that just made a huge grin spread across my face is this short film by For You Love Me, featuring Naomi and Josh of The Rockstar Diaries.

Sunshine and Leaves

Eleanor Rigby and I had a wonderful afternoon yesterday. We...
Played in the leaves
Took these fun photos
Eleanor Rigby chewed on sticks...and then mommy got mad at her for chewing on sticks
And it was a lovely, fall day :)

Taylor Swift lyrics.
{lyrics above from "Never Grow Up"}

I love, love, love Taylor Swift. And I'm kind of in love with her new album.

25 Before 25

Last fall, I jotted down a list of twenty-five things I wanted to do before turning twenty-five.
I hadn't looked at the list in quit some time, but upon looking it over again I was surprised at what I had accomplished in the past year...and quite unintentionally.

1) Visit 21 states I’ve never been to before
2) Be completely finished with my post secondary education
3) Read The Complete Works of Shakespeare
4) See A Fine Frenzy in concert
5) Live in Manhattan, even if not permanently
6) Go to an NFL game
7) Hunt down a copy of every Beatles album on vinyl
8) Take a road trip from one side of the country to the other
9) Perfect marshmallow frosting
10) Take my little sister on a trip to Manhattan
11) Go to a drive in movie theater
12) See every Quentin Tarintino movie ever made
13) Volunteer for a center aiding girls who struggle with eating disorders
14) Become a writer - a real, published writer
15) Learn how to be my own mechanic
16) Prepare and entire Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner by myself
17) Take a class on photography
18) Go to a show during fashion week
19) Fall in love - not just love someone, but be in love
20) Learn to play the guitar
21) Take a week and go back to visit Portland, Maine
22) Attempt to learn to surf
23) Travel around Europe
24) Revamp my love to sew
25) Bake a cheesecake

At the time I wrote this list, I had every intention of studying under the baking and pastry program at the Ai of Seattle. Here I am a year later, with and education in professional photography.
Whoa.
Can't wait to see how many things I'll have ticked off this list by next year!

Pumpkin Carving!

Last night I got together with the girls and carved pumpkins!
And for the umpteenth time I learned that I'm not very good at carving pumkins. I managed to break off the rhine (or whatever it's called- the green, stem thing) and the top piece fell into my pumpkin and got stuck.
But it was fun :)

Yankee Candle Love

If you really want to treat yourself and immerse your nose in a glorious scent, go buy Yankee Candle's Farmers Market and Spiced Pumpkin candles. In case you haven't figured it out I love fall, and these candles have been giving my home that wonderful Autumn atmosphere!
Now I can't wait to go pick out more Autumn candles, like Maple Pancakes and Be Thankful!
And of course Christmas candles like Winter Wonderland, White Christmas, and Peppermint Swirls :)

Fall in Love With Fall

This month I have done nothing but immerse myself in my love for the start of the holiday season.
From that first sighting of changing leaves, I have...
ate lots and lots of butternut squash soup
baked a pumpkin pie
made apple cider at least once a week
faithfully watched my New York Giants every Sunday after church
switched up my iced soy lattes for hot ones
made cinnamon cream "cheese"
attended my hometown's annual Apple Days festival
broke out the boots and scarves (!)
bought my Halloween costume
walked around my lovely town, photographing every color leaf in sight
and this Sunday evening, I plan on carving pumpkins with my friends

Isn't fall grand?

And if you think it is, you need to run out and buy the November issue of Vogue and immerse youself into move insanely gorgeous images of this cover girl.

Once you're done with that, move onto the fashion spreads and pour over more amazing photos and incredible fashion. They were only taken by my hero, Patrick Demarchelier, after all.

Cabin in the Woods

Well these lovely photos above were taken at the same photo shoot I modeled for by Jennifer Mooney.
And I kind of love them.
I hope you do too.

Meet Eleanor Rigby

This is my pup, Eleanor Rigby.
And I love her.
But Mommy's mad at me for chewing on her favorite pair of heels last night.
I might have to buy her a new pair!

Little Things I Love

Getting new issues of Lucky in the mail :)

Lucky is by far my most favorite fashion magazine.
As much as I love the high fashion of Vogue, I love Lucky for the simplicity. The feature very wearable clothes that fit perfectly with my own style. I take more inspiration from Lucky than anywhere else when it comes to my wardrobe.
It's also kind of my dream to work as a photographer for Lucky :)

My Life As a Model

{photo by Lauren Evans}

Ok, so I'm not really a model, but I had the amazing opportunity to model for some of my former classmates at Rocky Mountain School of Photography.

It was a great day consisting of five photographers (plus me) obsessing over the beautiful medium format camera used for the shoot, lighting techniques, and wisdom handed down to us by photographer and instructor, Joe Lavine. I was promised all the photos would be sent to me once they've been edited and I promise to post them when I can.

In the meantime enojy more beautiful photos from the shoot by Lauren Evans.

Sick :(

{photo source unknown}
Under the covers, watching last week's Project Runway with a sore throat.
Be back when I'm feeling better.
